So I'm a green as can be beginner to acting. My first ever course which is coming up in 2 weeks requires me to learn a monologue which is about 4 ish sentences long.
Ive never had an amazing memory but so far I'm focusing on memorizing one sentance at a time, and I think it's working ok. I was wondering what techniques you guys would recommend me use for a beginner going forward.

Hey Guys,
I met with an agent on zoom a couple of months ago. After a few months of back and forth- they told me I wasn’t quite ready but I have potential. Which is fair enough! I just had a question about my showreel.
I spent two years making my own short films to use for my showreel (also as a passion project) the reason being I have a bit more control over it and it will hopefully make me stand out. If I was to reach out to this agency in the future, shall I still use these films? I can add recent tapes and some more scenes, but I’m still really confident in my work with these films as it ..read more

Hello,
I am an LA based actor who is currently negotiating a contract with a theater in Belfast NI. I am trying to get my hands on the ITC/Equity Rate Sheet so I can see the current rates for weekly subsistence and relocation fees. While the contract is NOT an equity contract, the theater said that they do follow "good practices" as set out in the guidelines for touring. I just can't see what those are since ITC only allows members to view their rate sheet.
Thanks so much

Hello! I’m in some desperate need of advice. I (18F) have thankfully got into my dream college in California and will be moving there in the fall. The location has played a big role as to why it is my dream college because I have been wanting to pursue acting for years now. I come from a small town in missouri, and have little to no acting experience. I’ve taken over 40 acting classes, but I haven’t been able to land anything on backstage or actors access. I have tried student films and just creative films that people near me are doing, and they either fall through or “they don’t have a role ..read more

I have an in person audition coming up and wasn't sure if I should wear casual or wear a dress (club wear) for the audition. If it was a self tape I would dress up but wasnt sure for an inperson one? Scene is set in my character's house about to go on a date to go clubbing. The other character mentions that I am wearing a dress. Casting didn't really specify anything about what to wear for the audition. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you so much!

Hi there, I am located in Los Angeles and currently have a manager. I am looking to expand to include an agency as well and will be submitting to them soon- but I was wondering if agents take a percentage of all work you book?
What I mean is if I book something on my own- do they take 10% off of that? Also if I wanted to get an agency on the east coast/southern market would they take a percentage on something booked with the other agency?
Anyone with an agent- especially if you have bicoastal representation- feel free to chime in and help a girl out!

(23F) I'm from NYC, moved out to LA for college and ended up staying here afterwards cause I got a nice job here. I'm honestly not happy here at all, a lot of my friends have or are moving away in the next few months and I really want to move back to NYC, at least for a few years.
I broached the topic with my manager, they're not ecstatic about it but said it was my choice in the end, only that it'll limit me from pursuing some LA episodic + commercials and I would need to find a NYC agent (I'm a decent type so I dont think this will be TOO hard).
I didn't act before moving to CA so I have no ..read more

I apologize if it gets confusing I don’t really write much/at all or talk about. I’ll try to make sense of it. Thank you!
Hello everyone I’m just writing this to see how others would do/say about this. Ever since my father showed me movies ( about 4yr old) I’ve always loved watching them. It would be a thing my father and I would do everyday. It was until I’ve hit high school(freshman) I saw there was a theater sign up and as I was going to write my name and couple of people that I knew said “you not really signing up” i reacted quickly saying “nahhh of course not” but obviously I wanted to ..read more

Hi! I am an actor based in LA. I’m non-union and before their situation I was close to signing with KMR. I’ve been submitting myself to things and I would love to have an agent but I don’t know if it would be worth it at the moment or if there’s even any agencies taking people right now with everything going on. Would appreciate some advice. Thanks!
