From April we will be hosting in-person storytelling workshops in three different continents, with our first live session held in the heart of New York City, fresh off the back of our successful launches in Germany and Australia. When I was a reporter, I used to call people in public relations flacks. Now that I am in PR, I refer to them as storytellers. The transition has been quite a journey. With insights from my colleagues, this blog series will offer tips, anecdotes and best practices from someone who has seen the world of PR from both sides. In this edition, we talk about interview tips. What could go wrong? We couldn’t believe what we were seeing. My professional life has been nothing if not varied. I’ve been an actor, a presenter, an entertainer, a director, a barman, an estate agent, a customer experience specialist and now…a writer. Each job has been different from the last, some more so than others, but there is one key element that has underpinned them all – and that is the importance of storytelling. A background in telling tales One of my earliest memories is of a story I created, albeit not a very good one. I was stood queuing with my mum in Woolworths and quickly got bored. So, to spice up the wait, I decided to throw myself on ..read more

Why darts is so interesting…
Berkeley Global PR Blog

I’d never watched a darts match until last night when the drama of the World Darts Championship final captivated me. Tensions had been rising all week at the prospect of a 16 year old schoolboy winning the £500k prize money on his debut. He had, after all, slayed every former world champion enroute to the final – why not dare to dream? So there I was on the edge of my seat, excited as if I were watching the England football team in the World Cup finals. Even my fruit tea went cold (yes, dry January), as I completely lost myself to a rollercoaster of emotions while ‘cool-hand’ Luke Humphries re ..read more
