The Microbiology Society is saddened to report that Professor John Gareth Morris CBE DPhil FIBiol FLSW FRS, passed away aged 91 on December 2023 in Llandogo, Monmouthshire. Gareth joined the Microbiology Society – then the Society for General Microbiology in 1955 – and published the several papers from his PhD studies in the Journal of General Microbiology, as well as many later papers over the course of his career.
