So for some reason, even though I've met with an iTalki teacher to speak Japanese over 10 times I still get very nervous before meeting. I don't know why. I thought I would have been more comfortable by now. I've even been to Japan and spoken with strangers but I feel probably even more nervous meeting up to speak on iTalki every week. I'm not really sure what it is. I have this fear that I'm going to mess up and they are going to think I'm stupid or something but I know conciously they are still getting paid and probably really don't care. This fear feels more emotional than logic based. Doe ..read more

So I use anki and currently am reading manga and making cards for each word or phrase. I have around 4200 cards Total and adding new ones each day. I just study 10 new ones a day but with reviews from other decks I review around 300 each day around an hour and a half... I saw a video online of this guy, old man hou probably know him, and he mentioned how it's better to immerse yourself in vocab than flash cards? This morning I was listening to an episode of nihongo con teppei and he mentioned he doesn't like flash cards much and doesn't use that method. So what I wanna know is does reading th ..read more

I think I may be an exception, because I enjoy Anki. I've been doing it for about an hour a day for quite a while now. The hour a day workload seems not too bad. I usually do it first thing in the morning with my coffee, and if I miss a day, I only have two hours the following day to get caught up. Of course, if things get really busy, I will pause my decks on ocassion. I am using the following premade decks: - Colocations (no new cards left) - Complete 10k (almost finished!) - Japanese Geography (no new cards left) - Katakana reading practice deck (no new card left) - Japanese proper nouns ..read more

Hey, So will studying I noticed that up to N3 there are at least 3 ways to explain that you finish doing something: -てしまう -V + 終わる -V + 上げる Now though I don't really get what the difference between them all are and in what situations and context are each best used. Does anyone know the answer please? submitted by /u/mentadaikichi [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
