I started beginner pointe in September and I’ve been using the same pair of pointe shoes since because class is only once a week for one hour so they haven’t really died yet. But every class my toes hurt A LOT, I know pointe hurts but idk if it’s supposed to hurt this much, I use toe pads too. submitted by /u/Mars104 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Adult recreational dancers, how many hours / days do you dance?

Hello, recently asked a similar question so I hope this is allowed. I am just interested to know how many hours per week you dance and across how many days per week? What levels of classes do you do? Do you continue to take beginner level classes alongside more challenging classes? Do you take a mix of levels or the same level? Do you do any other exercise? Are you in employment as well and how do you find managing your time and energy? Any tips for this? Is it going to be difficult? I will be starting a new job soon and I'm trying to figure out what dance classes to take. I am excited about ..read more

Male dancers, do you wear a dance belt when you wear a leotard? My leotard tends to hold things quite well in place and doubling up with a dance belt is almost uncomfortable, especially with tights on top. Triple layered... submitted by /u/Usual-Lettuce-8946 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Fix for Arches After 40?

I’m 42 and have been taking ballet off/on for 10 years after quitting in middle school. I used to have legit banana feet. One of the many things I didn’t know about aging is that our arches can fall. I’ve noticed a significant change in my arches over the last year. It’s making class more difficult and I know this is vain, but I miss how they used to look. I’ve seen lots of tips for people who were born with flatter feet wanting to raise their arches but I’m curious if anyone here is over 40 and has found stretches or exercises to help combat the impact of aging. submitted by /u/betterluckne ..read more

Male - How to _run_ onstage?

Hello Dancers, Can anyone please spare a moment to explain, or point me to a tutorial, ballet, instruction, or other example of, the technique for how a man should run onstage? I have an upcoming show, I’m the only male, and the teacher is showing the technique for female runs. Female run technique doesn’t look good on me. I never thought that learning to walk/run could be so difficult. Thank you <3 submitted by /u/tangoking [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Am I spending too much on lessons

There are no adult beginner classes in my area, so I am taking privates until I can get into the intermediate/advanced classes. I am currently paying 50/hour two hours a week. Basically 400$/month. I’m a college student, so it’s lowkey a lot, just making sure I’m not wasting money. Any suggestions on saving? Thanks! submitted by /u/EnvironmentOne6753 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Something looks off about my upper body when I turn, and I think it may be arms and not pulling up enough? I'm 'spinning' more so than turning. If it's anything else, what's off? My arms seem to be too low and far apart? https://reddit.com/link/1cb0rwc/video/mdzeysnzc7wc1/player submitted by /u/dostoyevskyss [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I really enjoy this piece we use for grand rond de jambe in centre. I know it's Chopin but I'm assuming it's an excerpt - does anyone know if there's a full piece for this? Thank you! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-c5T52_058 submitted by /u/Curious-Fighter-Time [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
