As a dietitian, the most common question I get from families with young children, is how to deal with picky eaters. As a mom, I deal with a picky eater every day. But I like to reframe it as a "learner eater."
By not bribing or pressuring children to eat, we help reduce stress at meals
and help support them to learn to eat a variety of foods at their own pace.
Like many babies when we first ..read more

I love toast. Sometimes with marmalade and cream cheese, or butter and cinnamon, and sometimes with peanut butter and honey. Other times that just won't cut it for a satisfying meal or snack.
Whole wheat toast with PB, jam, gouda, apples and hemp seeds.
What makes a meal satisfying for you? For me it usually needs some crunch, some flavour, and something fresh (substituting canned or frozen ..read more

Recently a local grocery store had pork shoulders on sale for 99 cents per pound...which is a crazy price! It was a sale that I just couldn't pass up. And I'll share my foul proof way to cook it perfectly!

I love a good homemade soup, especially when it's cold outside. The other day, I wasn't sure what to make for dinner. We were in need of groceries, but I was inspired by a full head of cauliflower in the fridge.
Homemade soup is often a weekend project in our household, but since I got my pressure cooker, it's much easier to manage on a weeknight.
This is definitely a recipe that could be ..read more

One of our favourite holiday traditions is the breakfast we enjoy after opening our gifts.
We don't have one favourite breakfast we make each year. Instead we chose in advance what we will make. We enjoy making it and eating together while listening to our favourite holiday songs.
Some years we make something like a strata the night before and other years we make our favourite pumpkin ..read more

Taking advantage of grocery store sales is a great way to save a little money. Ideally it is best to look through the flyers before doing any meal planning, but if you're like me and don't always do this. All you need is either a flexible plan or a little freezer space.
I try to purchase extra-lean or lean ground beef when it's on sale. Last week club packs or family packages of ground beef ..read more
