Success! We finally managed to get some hay for the buns and the hay bag is perfect. I was worried they wouldn’t have enough room for them to stick their lil noses in but they definitely do. I made an extra wide mouth for the bag so we could easily get the hay in but I forgot to take pictures of it before the hay was in the bag. I’ll update this post if I remember next time ..read more

Hmm, so I Googled why my fingertips peel when I’ve been sewing so much and I might have a nickel allergy? Sewing needles are usually plated with nickel and only the fingers I use for sewing are the ones that are peeling. And the internet says nickel allergies are relatively common. But ya know, it’s the internet so I’m taking it with a grain of salt becauss it could easily just be the dry weather and/or dry skin. Up until recently it was pretty cold and dry where I live and I adamantly refuse to use lotion because it gets on everything. But I’m tempted to invest in a few gold-plated needles ju ..read more

Happy Monday! The woven patch is finished!!! Now on to the giant tear in the fabric. It wasn’t that big to begin with but my foot accidentally got caught in the hole that was already there and I moved just a little too fast and the fabric ripped. I’m trying another new technique for this one because patching it the way I did the other one would be agonizing. And as it turns out, chain stitches make it so that I’m way less likely to stab myself and my fingers are almost all the way healed ..read more

Le sigh. The greenish hay bag I was working on is too small for the amount of hay 28 pounds of rabbit consume so I’m making a bigger one. I can’t complain though. This is three skeins of very thick yarn that I didn’t have another use for and it’s wonderfully thick so the buns can’t chew through it as easily. I’m thinking about finishing the other bag to use for groceries since I’m constantly losing the ones I have and Connecticut charges ten cents per bag if you don’t have your own ..read more

Happy Wednesday! When you’re broke, you make do. Someday I hope to own at least one yarn bowl but for now this cardboard box works. I’m still working on weaving the sheets that the rabbits got to but for now I’m crocheting a relatively simple hay bag for them. Idk if anyone who follows me has house rabbits but they are MENACES and easily distracted so a hay bag might help divert their attention to anything other than my bed. I’m extrapolating on a pattern I already used to make a laundry bag and I’m thinking about posting what I think the pattern is but with some small adjustments. I might th ..read more

Happy Monday! Ya boi got himself a knitting machine for Christmas and immediately played the most intense game of Yarn Chicken that he’s had in a while. I won, but just by a little bit. I hope I’ll remember to post the result because I made a pretty decent scarf for my first time working with the machine ..read more

I sewed a piece of paper to my vest and made it look like a patch because ya boy is broke Hey all! I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times today but GET OUT THERE AND VOTE!!! Even if you think your vote will be wasted when you know that your state is consistently blue/red, even if you think your vote won’t make a difference, even if you think it doesn’t matter, VOTING IS YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. EXERCISE IT. It’s the only thing you can do to affect the election, whether you’re for or against keeping Trump in office (I would never tell someone how to vote). Make your voice heard, even if ..read more

Happy Monday! This week I learned how to do the fishbone stitch so I could put these stars over some worn parts of my jeans to keep them from getting any worse. You can see that I hadn’t googled how to do it on the top point, didn’t quite get it on the next one, and had it all figured out from there. I’ll try to post the finished product when it’s done Stay safe and have a great day ..read more

I’m not sure if I’ve showed this blanket to you all before. This is an old project of mine that I made to cope during a particularly awful part of my mental health journey. Crafting can be such a blessing when you’re depressed. As my dad always says, “Depression hates accomplishment” and so I think that if I’m moping I should at least be moping with a hook or a needle in my hands. It’s a good distraction and every finished row is just a little bit of happiness in a sea of bad feelings. A finished project could make my day. I’m not saying crocheting alone got me out of that hole, but it certa ..read more
