Spent a few nights on the Buffalo River. Water was very low but it was a great trip nonetheless. Going to go back earlier next time around and hopefully do the upper section.

My father moved into an apartment, and I got the canoe. It is a very beautiful cedar strip with fibreglass inside and out for low maintenance. We have had this canoe since the late '70s.
I have almost everything I need, but no lifejackets. What are people recommending for lifejackets now?

Planning a trip to the boundary waters and had a few questions:
I’ll be flying in from TN, what’s the best and cheapest way to get to the outfitter? I’d rather not rent a car to have it sit for 5 days.
best time of year to go?
I’d also like recommendations on 5-6 day trips. Minimal portages, whitewater is okay.
Any other tips are greatly appreciated!

Hey y'all, I just moved to the low country in SC recently. The marshlands and barrier islands are too good of an opportunity to pass up. I'd like to find something suitable for myself and my dog (50 lb Husky/Fox Hound mix) taking multi-day trips along the coasts and within the creeks that the barrier islands and low country has to offer. Any canoe or kayak recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch!

I am heading out on the first family trip of the year. Planning to do the long lake-buzzard lake-mountain lake-compass lake-loucks lake loop.
Just wondering how technical these rivers actually are. Set on doing 3 days 2 nights.
I've heard this route is leisurely. But we have two kids. One with a ton of back country experience. One is a toddler.

For my college final as a product designer, I have to redesign a first aid kit for camping. I am trying to gather more information on already existing kits and improvements people would like to see. Any insight and feedback are greatly appreciated! It is relatively short, consisting of 16 questions.

My wife and I are planning a 2 day, 1 night trip on the Manistee River in Michigan. It looks like there are 2 main outfitters to rent a canoe and get a shuttle from, Chippewa Landing and Wilderness. I see that Chippewa Landing is further upstream.
Does anyone have some advice about which section of the river is better? We are looking for scenic and secluded with good dispersed camping.

My fiancé and I love to go canoe camping in the Adirondacks. We’ve just been using inherited equipment from his parents (a big ol’ indestructible Coleman canoe—see photo—that’s great except on long portages, and a couple of cheap paddles). On our trip last summer, my paddle split as I was pushing off a rock.
I’m thinking about putting a new paddle on our wedding registry and would love recommendations—I’d love something that’s an upgrade from what I’ve been using (a very basic wooden Feather brand straight paddle, same as the one I learned on as a child at summer camp) that maybe offers ..read more
