I have been lax in getting the blog updated so I hope I haven't forgotten everything we saw in New Orleans. We stayed at a basic campground with full hookups.  The campground wasn't in the best area but was clean and gated.  Would not stay there again only because of the train switching station right behind the campground, very noisy day and night. One of the first areas we visited was an above ground cemetery very old.  First time I have ever seen an above the ground cemetery. Of course no visit to New Orleans would be complete without a visit to the French Quarter ..read more

We landed in the Gulf Shores State Park on Nov 1st for a month stay.  Great state park campground and a destination for a lot of snowbirds. Large for a state park, almost 500 campsites.  Great campsites with asphalt site with a patio and great spaces between sites. Lots of biking and hiking trails and even a boardwalk across the street to the beach.  Definitely will try to get back there again.  November is their quiet time between summer camping season and winter snowbirds.  I don't think I would like the weather to much in the summer time, to humid ..read more

Guess I had better get caught up with the blog before I forget what we did.  We left my brothers house after having a great visit.  It was really good to see everyone again.  From the left, my youngest brother Kevin, me and my brother Mark, who lives in North Carolina and is the next in line age wise. This should probably be in the Nashville post....oh well..... We parked in Kevin's yard, we fit right into the spot he had picked for us. Back to Memphis.  I did not enjoy the drive through Memphis, apparently it is the trucking capitol of the United States and they all ..read more

We left visiting relatives and friends in Minnesota and started out to Tennessee to visit with more family.  On my son's suggestion we headed east from St Cloud to the Wisconsin border to follow the St Croix/Mississippi River to try and catch some of the fall colors.  It was a great suggestion the colors were really starting to pop!  The days were cloudy so the pictures didn't show the true brilliance of the colors.  The best area was Taylors Falls just before the Wisconsin border. Beautiful colors! As we followed the river, sometimes on the Minnesota side some ..read more

Continuing on our journey to Minnesota to spend some time with family and friends we made a stop at Medora, ND.  This is also the south entrance to TRNP so we decided to stay a few days.  We stayed at the Medora Campground for a home base.  Campground was fine, busy.  This is the first campground that we were ask how many air conditioners we had and based their rate on it.  Didn't matter whether you used them.  We have been using them the last couple of days as it has gotten hot again and windy. The first few days here the weather has been perfect.  Mid ..read more

This will be the last post about our trip to Alaska, what a wild ride.  I don't think we will ever have an adventure quite like this again.  The sights and sounds of the Yukon and Alaska are unbelievable.  It is hard to describe everything we have seen and experienced in the last two months.  I hope the pictures will tell most of the story as I am not very good at putting into words the visual experience of the trip. The next stop on the trip was Palmer, AK.  History of Palmer.  We spent two nights at a local campground.  The day we were there we had a ..read more

We spent a couple of days in Anchorage and checked out the area.  We took a drive down to the Cook Inlet.  We stopped along the shore and as we were looking out across the water we turned around and noticed a Eagle sitting on a highline pole. One of the first good views we have had of an Eagle since we started our trip.  Further down the road we stopped in a small park and watched two young moose checking out the joggers along the path.  One of them actually chased one of the joggers for a little bit. As we were leaving the little park we noticed several sand cr ..read more

Yesterday we got out of bed at: 4:30am to catch a bus at 6am into Denali. Ended up being a 13 hr. bus trip. We had a dog walker get Bud twice during the day.  He was sure glad to see us when we got home.  It was a long day but very fruitful. The day was beautiful it was 82 degrees at the peak of the day.  All the Alaskans were amazed at the great weather. We saw Moose, Big Horn Sheep, Caribou, Grizzly Bears, ptarmigan (Like a grouse, Alaska state bird) and other little creatures. We drove the entire route into Denali, there is only one ro ..read more

I hope I didn't wait to long to update the blog and can remember what we did so far.....
