What would you consider your activity level to be?

I am not quite sure what mine should be, using this calculator. https://tdeecalculator.net/ I work from home in an office job, so quite sedentary. However, I am doing the couch to 5k app so run 2-3x a week, weight train twice a week which I am building up intensity and weight in and I have just started BJJ 1-2x a week. Would that put me at a moderate activity level? The reason I ask is because I am 5ft6 M34 weighing around 167 lbs. Trying to drop around 10 lbs of mid-section fat. My daily calorie requirement can be either 1800 or 2500 depending on activity level. Which means my deficit can be ..read more

NSV: Stronger than I’ve Ever Been

At my heaviest, just before the pandemic began properly in 2020, I was almost 200lb at 5’4”. Since then, I’ve dropped a fair bit of weight (and gained about 10lb back) - I’m now just under 165lb, but I’m also the strongest I’ve ever been in my life. From a starting point of doing Couch 2 5k and not being able to jog for more than 20 seconds without an asthma attack, I can now knock out a 5k without much effort, at one point in late 2022 I did a half marathon (I couldn’t do that anymore though! 10k would be my limit). This morning at the gym, I squatted 85kg x 4 reps. Almost what I used to wei ..read more

I messed up

Hi, I've always kept track of my calories not really planning on limiting myself but recently I've been trying to change that. I'm 5'4 and 134 lbs. I'm really insecure about my body and I just need to cut down a little. I was doing fine fasting for like three days during the mornings, and limiting myself to about 1300 calories when it came to eating but in these past two days I've screwed up and I went over by twice as much as 1300 calories and just right now and the yesterday I stuffed myself with junk food going over again which means I can't eat later today. I feel so guilty but I don't wh ..read more

Gained 8kg in 1.5months

By the end of February I weighed 92 to 93 kg and aroun 15 March it was Ramadan (Cant eat or drink from sunrise to sunset for one month) so I stopped tracking because its a very tiring month and I wanted to stay healthy. My TDEE is around 2300 calories but if I estimate id say I ate around 2000 to 2500 calories per day. Now Ramadan is over and I weighed myself after a week of tracking and weigh 101kg, how is this possible? Is all of this water weight? Problem is my waist increased by 2 inches as well and I have no idea how water weight affects waist. submitted by /u/StrengthWide8305 [visit re ..read more

How bad is a binge-restrict cycle, really?

I’m F, 5’7”, 140lbs for reference. Trying to lose extra chub and tone up, I guess. I feel as though I can really only lose weight on a severe calorie deficit. Even if I eat on a moderate deficit, I still binge every couple days. Maybe not binge, but at least overeat. That’s just how it is for me. So, if I restrict to about 1,200cals / day, I’ll still end up eating 2,000 every third day. The only way I don’t overeat to compensate is if I eat at maintenance, which is about 1,800 cals for me. So, I’ve honestly found restricting to below 1000 cals is the only way I lose. I deal with the occasiona ..read more

I got 99 problems...

I got 99 problems and obesity aint one. When I had to get my licence renewed, I was so proud to say my weight went from 91 kg, to 62 kg. I am no longer obese, and I'm in a normal weight zone. I still have many problems in my life, but thanks to a lot of hard work, obesity aint one. I have been maintaining it 5 months now. When I reach that 6 month mark, I might treat myself to a facial. I hadn't bought any clothes on my weight loss journey for 3 years. I tailored the ones I had to fit. But now I have lost so much weight, I can't do that anymore. I discovered thred up, and I spent way too much ..read more

Today I got 8 compliments on how good I look

As a 48 year old guy this blew my mind! I think that's more complements than I've gotten in the past 10 years! :-D I've done a lot of work in the past 5 months, and recently had to buy new clothes, once I realised how utterly ridiculous I looked in my old clothes. I've gone from an XL to an M since Christmas (down 13kg). This has made me realise how important good fitting clothes are. I even bought new training clothes in February that are already too big for me :-D A good complaint to have I suppose. A message to anyone like me, if you've made some gains, treat yourself to proper fitting clo ..read more

How do you stay motivated with a lot to lose?

So, I’m 42 and need to drop over 100lbs. I’m down 12.5 in the past 8 weeks, which I’ve been doing by reducing calories and tracking macros (and some exercise). But, I’m starting to wish I was losing weight faster like I used to on crash diets. For those who have lost a lot, how do you keep motivated knowing it’ll be a 1-2 or more year journey? I know it took more than a year to get over 300lbs but some days I just wish I could feel what it’s like to be in a more comfortable weight range. What are the tips and tricks that have helped you get to your goal? For those who have lost 100+ how did y ..read more
