So far, so good on the international break for Arsenal with no injuries from the fixtures so far, but things will get a bit heated tonight for Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior, as Ukraine and Poland feature in the European Championships playoff finals tonight. Ukraine have a huge clash against Iceland, which will be an interesting encounter. The Scandinavian nation can be a potential banana skin for the Ukrainians, but I feel that Zinchenko and co. have enough in the tank to see out the threat they’d pose, but they will have avoid complacency and of course, profligacy, to ensure that they ..read more

Following Arsenal’s win over FC Porto, the international break beckoned and fans were hopeful that each player would go to represent their nations and return unscathed. Arsenal had 13 players that were called up, but in recent times, there have been several withdrawals from the Arsenal camp, starting with the three Gabriels – Magalhaes, Martinelli and Jesus withdrawing from the Brazil squad.  Brazil has two high-profile friendlies scheduled against England and Spain, so the Gabriels weren’t really needed anyway, especially when you consider that Martinelli is currently injured, Ga ..read more

Takehiro Tomiyasu has signed a contract extension with Arsenal, continuing the trend of players that have extended their stay with the club, as Mikel Arteta and Edu are doing their own bit to keep the tight-knit bunch together. Tomiyasu joined Arsenal as a relatively unknown player from Bologna and his versatility has been one of his most distinct features with the club, with him featuring as a left back and center back adeptly, despite primarily deployed as a right back. However, his time at Arsenal has been marred by injuries and this season hasn’t been any different. In his first season wi ..read more

Arsenal’s sojourns in the FA Cup ended rather prematurely this season, with the Gunners losing to Liverpool in that period when the lads were passing through a patchy run of form. The lads went to Dubai not long after to recharge their batteries and enjoy some warm weather training, and since then, the lads have been on fire, winning nine of the last 10 games, with the only blip being that narrow loss to FC Porto in Portugal.  Since then, the FA Cup has passed through several rounds, with the quarterfinal stages taking center stage over the weekend. The first FA Cup quarterfinal fixture ..read more

Lee Dixon is a legendary name associated with Arsenal Football Club, making 626 appearances and scoring 28 goals in 15 seasons with the club. As you’d expect from a legend that quit playing the beautiful game more than 20 years ago, Dixon has stayed in football, working as a pundit in leading media outlets as BBC Sports and NBC Sports, and even handles commentary in the franchise FIFA video game series.  One thing we know for sure is that Dixon is Arsenal through and through, and he will be forever remembered for the role he played in that ferocious backline under George Gr ..read more

Arsenal 1-0 Porto: Raya Triumphant in a Scrappy Affair

Yesterday’s game was a nervy affair from the start to the final penalty kick from Galeno. The first leg at Estadio do Dragao was scrappy at best, with FC Porto stifling Arsenal’s attacking impetus and all it took was a mistake at the death for the Portuguese side to gain the advantage going into the second leg. As annoying as it was, Galeno’s curler was a beaut. Arsenal knew that they needed to get some measure of control in the second leg and things were going to be tetchy, but from start to finish, FC Porto unleashed the dark arts, wasting time with reckless abandon and threading more back ..read more

Since the warm weather training at Dubai, Arsenal has been on fire, winning eight Premier League games in a row, scoring with reckless abandon but the only bump in the road came at Estadio do Dragao against a FC Porto side that did very well to stifle what Arsenal came with and scored a very heart-wrenching late goal. All roads lead to the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal host FC Porto in a very important game with a place in the quarterfinals up for grabs. Both teams are in good form leading to the game, but Arsenal had to smash and grab to get all three points against Brentford. Arsenal will ne ..read more
