Why do people not sing in church anymore?

I have in recent times visited/tried out multiple churches, due to moving, among other reasons. I am always nearly the only one to sing. In the small church where I grew up, people sang. There was always an effort, at least. I am in my twenties, so this was not an extremely long time ago. These memories of effort are from even the later teen years. These recent churches have been of various sizes of congregation, both small and large. I can't read sheet music (yet), but it is not too difficult to figure out based on the melody that is played. I know this is true for the church I grew up in an ..read more

I’m seriously question my beliefs

Sorry for bad punctuation, I’m not very good at it. Anyways, I’m seriously questioning my beliefs. I’ve been agnostic for a while despite having gone to church up until covid (parents wanted me and my brother out of the house so they could chill) but I never felt a true connection. Church always felt so “fake” to me, like everyone was just there because they had to be or only believed in it because their parents did. I’ve never really grown up with that same connection despite going to church. My parents aren’t religious, my grandparents are since they took me to church, but I’ve just never f ..read more

As the title says I have a pornography/masturbation addiction. I started when I was 14, did it multiple times a day up until I was 17. Now I do it maybe once a week. I'm a pastors kid so I know it's wrong it's just idk know what to do. I pray during the day, I pray when I have thoughts. I even pray afterwards and ask him to forgive me and to punish me accordingly. I read my Bible everyday, right when I wake up and before I sleep. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I think God is still with me but I can't keep disappointing him. I just did it a couple hours ago and feel awful. I feel like a hy ..read more

God wouldn't be disappointed, right? I'm tired of getting my hopes up. As long as I study the Bible it should be fine right? I feel the more I pray the worse my faith gets. submitted by /u/SSCyclone [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

In 2017 I had a friend from work whom I would ocasionally talk about God with, or atleast my idea of God. One day he gave me a Bible. I was deeply rooted in the world at this time. My main desires were attention and pleasure. Beneath these vain desires was a faint desire for righteousness. This desire led me to consider separating from certain peoople and vices, but I was too in love with the ways of the world to do it. I had no knowledge of God because I had not read the whole Bible. Upon receiving my Bible, I would read it for maybe five minutes a day, not every day, but probably most. Read ..read more

Scared im going to lose my connection with God

this is my first year with Christ and it has been pretty easy in general for me. I've had a light workload, so I have a lot of time to spend with God. Next year, I'm not going to be able to have much time at all, with sports and school on top of it all. I'm also going to a new school with a longer commute too. I'm scared I'm going to lose my relationship with God if I don't spend as much time with Him and start backsliding. What should I do? submitted by /u/YogurtclosetLow636 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Strangest thing happened to me today

So I was just chilling downstairs where there was a knock on the door, I opened it and there were two Jehovah's witnesses. The strange part was that they were Russian. Which is weird because I know how to speak Russian (I'm Ukrainian), but why would they go to a random house in the US (where most people speak English) and start talking in Russian? It's just confusing to me. But in the end we talked for a bit, they showed me a 3 minute video about the bible and how its answers life's questions, they gave me a card to go to their website (JW.org) And that was it. Can anybody explain? submitted ..read more

Does prayer position matter?

I’ve been in majority Protestant churches and it’s always been empathized to me that kneeling is the preferred prayer position when talking to God because God is a King and it’s disrespectful if you don’t. I don’t know if it’s a point of pride, but personally I don’t like doing it and I never have. I just don’t see why God would care that much about something so trivial. I know in the Bible people did get on their knees and pray together in the book of Acts, but people also prayed standing up, sitting down, and Jesus prayed on His face. I guess I’m wondering if this is a Protestant sediment a ..read more
