There is a reason why autumn is my favourite season and its not just because I get to decorate the house with pumpkins and sprinkle cinnamon on everything. Autumn clothes are always the best.  Braving the windy prom in my Check dress by Unique 21 Nothing says Autumn more than green tartan and this check dress by Unique 21 is satisfying all my grunge nostalgia as well as making me feel like I should be in Heathers.  Its been a while since Ive shot an outfit post so of course it chose to be both windy and rainy on the one  free ..read more

Mio Skincare Liquid Yoga Bath Soak

I’ve been on a rather long blogger hiatus. Lots of reasons which are not particularly interesting but a big part of this has simply been that I'm super busy with work and family. So it seems fitting that my first product review of 2018 is  Mio Skincare’s Liquid Yoga Bath Soak A cruelty free, vegan bath product to help promote well being. Perfect. Liquid Yoga claims to be your personal masseuse in a bottle; helping relax tight, stressed shoulders and soothing tired, achy bodies. This sounds pretty good and active ingredients such as Magnesium-rich Epsom salts and Arnica as well as ..read more

This weekend the writer and presenter June Sarpong has released her book Diversity for Harper Collins. Containing the tagline “because the world is separate enough” I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on this. In an article for Elle Sarpong discusses how she, as someone of Ghanaian heritage (where age brings with it a certain reverence where older women are valued for their wisdom and experience ) finds the Western distain for aging perplexing saying: Older women who have experienced life have so much to offer us in terms of balancing work and family life, thriving in male-domi ..read more

For the colder months, a coat and a couple of good jackets are winter essentials. Nothing is worse than arriving somewhere frozen to the bone with your teeth chattering. Finding coats to fit when you are plus size used to be almost impossible. Many a winter I have have had to wear a scarf to cover up the fact that my buttons wouldn't do up but thankfully things are improving. As you can see, by clicking this link, Simply Be are absolutely owning it this this season.  What I'm loving is that Its clear from the styling that these pieces that are genuinely desi ..read more

On Saturday it will be The Curve fashion Festival at the ACC and having been lucky enough to have worked with the amazing team behind the event, its fair to say I'm very excited indeed. It promises to be an amazing day. I really like the ACC as a venue. The last time I was there was for The Clothes Show (or the British Style Collective as its now rebranded)  The Clothes show has never been particularly great for plus size attendees so imagine my surprise to find the lovely Jo Frost from Plus size brand Topsy Curvy there. Jo was debuting her latest business venture a collaboration with the ..read more

Staying fashionable in a uniform

Some uniforms will never be the height of fashion, health and safety concerns, specific needs and set colours for a brand can limit your options to follow fashion while you’re at work. Add to that being plus size and you can really struggle to look good whilst following a companies clothing guidelines. Me back in my make up artist days-sans beauty tunic because none of them fitted When I was training as a make up artist you had to wear a beauty tunic and I simply couldn't find one in my size. The end result was me squeezing myself into a size too s ..read more

Once you get into the swing of cooking vegan food, going plant based is relatively easy. The only time I ever struggle with my meat and diary free diet is when I am out and about and want to grab something quick and tasty on the run. Discovering restaurants that also have vegan options on the menu is an absolute godsend and I'm always keen to share the vegan love. Liverpool One is one of my favourite places for a spot of retail therapy and its surprisingly vegan friendly-you just need to know where to go. Here is my guide to my top fiv ..read more

Definition of warpaint   A pigment or paint traditionally used in some societies,to decorate the face and body before battle. Sometimes make-up is about projecting strength. Not every make up look needs to be about contouring and neutrals, isn't its nice to look to something loud and obnoxious for inspiration. Like a Warhol painting or the cover of a trashy vintage paperback like Valley of the dolls. Twiggy by Warhol via pinterest This week Sleek sent me the i-Divine palette to try. I love Sleek eye-shadows, cruelty free, vegan and in ..read more

This week was the summer solstice. the longest day and always a time that leaves me feeling reinvigorated and excited to rush into the second half of the year. Along with lots of plans and ideas which I filled up my journal with on that magical night I also decided on a few much needed practical areas that needing addressing in my life-including sorting out my craft supplies. If like me you are a maker/sewer/crafter you no doubt know how easy it is to end up with box after box of supplies. My office has been overrun with ugly boxes full of ribbon, wool, fabric and all the shiny happy thin ..read more

Rejecting The Roles Of The Fat Friend And Comedy Side Kick
Pamper and Curves

We've known for a long time that images of females on screen overwhelmingly promote thin white bodies. Fat women in film or television are still a rarity, and when they are included,  its a case of always the bridesmaid never the bride (quite literally, when was the last time you saw an overweight  woman as the romantic lead in anything other than My Mad Fat Diary?) Walt Disney once said "Movies can and do have tremendous influence in shaping young lives in the realm of entertainment towards the ideals and objectives of normal adulthood" if we think King Disney has a point, how th ..read more
