“Ugh,” I mutter and NOT under my breath.
“No, I will not be using the app today.”
I place my order. Count my change. I pull ahead in line. It’s drive-through fast food and I just want some food quickly.
But it doesn’t matter. I’m inundated with offers to use loyalty programs at the grocery store to save money. Of course, it will encourage me to buy items I don’t need or really want to SAVE money. REALLY?
It’s the constant messaging whether in texts or emails of “offers” that sends me over the top.

“”Of course, it’s political.”
“But how can that be? Aren’t there some basic qualifications?”

The timer works and I can smell the success. The aroma from the roasted beans circulates. I’m ready to grasp a cup of the magic elixir of life and hold its warmth in my hands. To personally breathe in the scent that has hung in the air for the last 30 minutes. Am I ready to leave the warm cocoon of my bed to soak up this magic.
This dark brown, aromatic liquid may not exactly match the definition but it’s absolutely required on cold, dark mornings.
Coffee is my morning go to and necessary to “get up and go.”
What’s your “go to” early morning drink? How necessary is it?

I woke up at two and thought of an idea for today’s slice and immediately fell back to sleep.
I was awake again at four and had an even more brilliant plan for today’s slice and immediately fell back to sleep.
So now I’m debating – slice or sew because I definitely planned and prepared for success.
I finished my quilt top goal yesterday, the quilt of valor, just before the game began.
I had low expectations as I knew the first NCAA tournament game would not be easy. And it wasn’t. But a “W” is a “W” and every game will be a tough one. That’s our bracket for sure. I had kinda hoped to have mor ..read more

It’s Saturday, what shall I do?
Check my “To Do” list. It’s filled with tasks.
But it’s Saturday!
I have a game to watch at 2 pm.
It’s Saturday, what shall I do this morning?
Read, write, think, and then there’s that silly “To Do” list.
It’s Saturday. My day to choose.
What shall I do?
This cartoon catches my eye.
One less idea for Saturday.
What if? Yes, what if, I finish up sashing and borders for these blocks I inherited from Quilt Guild this week? Another Quilt of Valor on the precipice.
And, (drum roll), after all, it is on my “To Do” list.
It’s Saturday, and I now have a plan for this ..read more

I’ve been reading, writing, and thinking about Mary Oliver lately as I’ve also been considering my Journey with my One Little Word: live.
This one has been an exploration . . .
We all have doubts. Can we? Should we? Do more? Be more? Am I staying with the safe and easy or am I living my best life?
While I’m thinking, I’m considering a good friend of mine and one I often call “Sis” because we have so many commonalities in our lives. You may know her. Dr. Mary Howard. Mary now lives in her heart home, Hawaii, and is the perfect example of someone who is living her best life every single day.

Where do ideas come from?
Other books. See #SOLSC24: FATHNGVBD
What about poetry?
What is the definition of “text”? Does it include videos? Movies?
So then, what about songs?
Dr. Brent Hoesing has used songs to announce school closures. This is one from the week of 30 inches of snow in January. Linkhttps://youtu.be/G1LfmZlCDvA?si=5kKe0XbiT1KPi5nD
This one is pretty popular right now if there are no complaints from The Who.
B Ball Wizard
WordPress was a bear this morning. This post was 1.25 hours in the posting. How do we respond when the volume in a post/assignment is not what we expected?

March Madness
It’s time.
The brackets are set.
Five teams: two men’s and three women’s.
It’s time.
One team is second in the country.
One team is fourth in the country.
It’s time.
Set the schedule.
Complete the brackets.
It’s time!
The instate bracket is on my watch list.
2 pm on Saturday in Carver-Hawkeye Arena!
What matchup are you looking forward to? Which bracket will be the hardest to predict?

The meteorologist said, “It’s 20 degrees outside today.”
It’s cold out here.
Will I survive?
It’s cold out here.
Will I continue to bloom?
It’s cold out here.
Am I doomed to fade away with just four blooms?
It’s cold out here.
Will I lose my friends?
It’s cold out here.
Why is it so cold when spring starts tomorrow?
How does changing my point of view give me more ideas for writing? Does this extend to empathy for others in my life/world?

Still pondering this model

And connecting it to quilting.
Piecing it Together is Melanie’s suggestion.
More thinking.
I went to a pineapple class in October after I’d made three or four different pineapples. Only one is finished completely. The rest are not UFOs (Unfinished Objects) as they were developed only as demonstration/practice pieces. Note this picture from my “Pineapples” photo file is of the black and gold pineapple before finished into a hot pad that I don’t have access to today ..read more
