On April 25. Runes of Magic is still around and still getting updates, don’t you know. The folks at Gameforge announced that the game is getting its next update to endgame dungeons in the form of Timeless Dungeons 2. The Shadows over the Alter challenge brings players back to a warped version of the Mystic Altar. For players at least level 100 with peak levels unlocked and with the Knowledge of the Ancestors quests, Gameforge promises this to be one of the biggest challenges in the game’s history. And what do you get at the end of the dungeon? A coupon for a free Quiznos sub. I’m just kidding ..read more

Mad World Is Doing A Server Merge
MMO Fallout

Barely three months out. Mad World launched on January 24 and less than a single fiscal quarter later is already merging most of its servers. Why? Well the 24-hour peak of 26 concurrent users on Steam might have something to do with it. Six servers across Asia, North America, and Europe will merge into one server; Belphegor. The merger will take place on April 25. For details on the merger and what this means for your characters (if you have any) check out the official announcement ..read more

Black Desert Online Promises Gear Improvements
MMO Fallout

Dramatic gear improvements. Pearl Abyss has updated Black Desert Online this week. Today, specifically. Boy howdy are they writing a big check they can hopefully afford to cash, because Black Desert Online is promising “dramatic” improvements to its gear enhancement system. The new Ancient Anvil upgrade guarantees enhancements on your next attempt to modify gear. When players fail to enhance gear they will accumulate essence and when that essence reaches a specific number it will guarantee a successful enhancement. Agris essence stacks for each item and shares essences with the same group with ..read more

Overwatch 2 Still Can’t Quite Handle Steam Bundles
MMO Fallout

Another DLC gets reviewed poorly. There’s something about Activision Blizzard and Steam that the two parties just haven’t quite seen eye to eye over the last year. And by that I mean Activision is really bad at releasing bundles on Steam and actually getting people their purchases in a timely fashion. Normally you’d expect DLC bundles to just show up on your account immediately. At least that’s what Steam users are expecting. But back in December I wrote about the Overwatch 2 Season 8 bundle getting slammed in reviews because people were buying it and just not receiving anything. In February A ..read more

DOFUS Touch Gets Frigost Island
MMO Fallout

The frigostiest. DOFUS Touch gets the first of three content chapters this week and I’m not just reporting on this story so I can write Frigost Island in the headline. But also because Frigost is a funny word and I’d like to use it more in sentences. Frigost. As its name might imply, Frigost Island is a frosty place ruled by a dude named Count Harebourg. You’ll need to get to level 100 to reach Count Harebourg and get to the new areas. The update includes six new areas, new quests, and more dungeons. Also the second chapter is coming soon. DOFUS Touch is free to play on mobile, and saying Frig ..read more

Strauss Zelnick’s “No Layoffs” Lie Lasted Two Months
MMO Fallout
by Admin

Two months. Back in February during their third quarter investor call Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety magazine “We have no current plans for layoffs.” The company hasn’t had enough time to publish its next quarterly report before Zelnick said sike and announced company-wide layoffs. In the manner of about two months, Take Two went from “no current plans for layoffs” to laying off 600 employees. About 5% of the workforce is being cut alongside an unknown number of projects being cancelled and offices being condensed. The move is expected to save around $165 million annually with some ..read more

EG7 Transfers Planetside 2 To Itself
MMO Fallout

Leaves us wondering. Daybreak Game Company is no stranger to selling itself to itself, see the sale to EG7 for example. And they’re doing it again, as the company announced this week that Planetside 2 will be moving development over to Toadman Interactive. And who is Toadman Interactive? Probably not a criminal Russian oligarch unlike that other guy. They’re a different subsidiary of EG7. The developer is working on Block’n’Load2 as well as cooperative shooter EvilVEvil. We are excited to announce that our team at Toadman Interactive is taking over development duties for PlanetSide ..read more

I Played Some Of That Warzone Mobile
MMO Fallout

It made me feel blind. Those of you who read MMO Fallout know that I’m generally not a fan of mobile games. Foremost because the last thing I want to spend hours of my time doing is staring at my phone screen. The second is because a large majority of mobile games barely qualify as video games. Especially in mobile MMO games where most of these titles are automatically set up to play themselves. And yes I have routinely mocked the fact that standards of quality among mobile gamers are lower than a dog which turd to eat at the dog park, but that’s all that it is. An objective fact. If you threw ..read more

The final shape. Bungie is hyping up gamers for The Final Shape, and what is the Final Shape? You guessed it, Frank Stallone. Launching June 4, The Final Shape will see players enter the pale heart of the Traveler to chase after The Witness, the big bad guy of the game. The prismatic subclass is the big deal of this update, allowing players to wield the light and the darkness. In other words, there’s bound to be drama. Check out the trailer ..read more

Gigantic Relaunch Gets Mostly Positive Reviews
MMO Fallout
by Admin

On Steam. Gigantic is back in the form of Gigantic: Rampage Edition. The game first released in 2017 by developer Motiga and publisher Perfect World Entertainment. Despite positive reviews the game didn’t quite do so well and in 2018 ceased development with the servers shutting down the same year. The reboot is now a $20 buy to play game instead of a free to play title with microtransactions, and gamers are loving it. The title is currently sitting at a 73% mostly positive rating with nearly two thousand reviews and a concurrent count of six thousand on Steam. The full game is available on PC ..read more
