MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Many of us have a love of nature, but do you ever wonder where it comes from? Researchers at the National University of Singapore say parents actually pass down a love of nature to their children genetically. “This study provides the first evidence for a genetic component to both our predispositions towards nature and our tendency to visit natural spaces,” study co-author Dr. Chia-chen Chang said. “Nature-oriented people may actively seek out nature even if it means travelling from their home, but diverse urban planning is needed to provide access to natural ..read more

SEATTLE (AP) — At the rate he’s going, Logan Gilbert is going to find himself pitching in Los Angeles at the All-Star Game a month from now. Seattle’s young right-hander tossed six smooth innings and combined with three relievers on a four-hitter in the Mariners’ 5-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night. Eugenio Suárez and Ty France each clubbed a two-run homer to help the Mariners emerge from their offensive slump. But all anyone wanted to talk about afterward was another sterling performance from Gilbert. “He’s putting together, it looks to me, like maybe an All-Star type season,” S ..read more

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Breanna Stewart scored 29 points, including a go-ahead basket with 42.6 seconds left, and the Seattle Storm beat the Minnesota Lynx 81-79 on Tuesday night for their fourth straight victory. Stewart made a floater in the lane to break a 79-all tie. After Minnesota came up empty at the other end on Moriah Jefferson’s off-balance layup attempt, Stewart dribbled down the clock and got it to Jewell Loyd, who missed a contested shot in the lane. But Stewart grabbed the offensive rebound and passed it out to run out the clock. Epiphanny Prince made four 3-pointers in the opening fi ..read more

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Finding a job has arguably never been easier than right now given the number of openings.
