Disclaimer: we use Bicycle playing cards in this post. We were sent free playing cards for the purpose of sharing them with you. All of the thoughts below are my own.  Hello, August! It’s been a long, wild, weird summer and I hope you’re all doing well. Here in the Morgan household, we’re staring down the strangest school year we’ve ever faced. Our kids will eventually go back to their school (I hope!) but we’ll be distance learning for the foreseeable future which means Kyle and I are getting more hands-on with their education than we usually are. If you’ve suddenly found yourself at home with kids to entertain, I actually have some good news for you. As long as you have Internet access, there are a ton of resources beyond Netflix that can keep your kids entertained and keep their brains from turning to mush before everyone returns to school. There are lots of companies that have stepped up to offer free access to their programs during these strange times. I’m also including some resources that are always free, just in case you’ve overlooked them. And, at the very end, I’m including some ideas for screen breaks in case your family needs ..read more

How I Fixed Our Summer
The Ever Clever Mom | Another Utah Momlife Lifestyle blog
by Carly Morgan

I started the summer with big BIG plans. As the school year came to a close, I got more and more excited about all of the time I now had with all three kids. We could really get into projects, pull out all of the board games, learn some life skills, and hop in the car to road trip at a moment’s notice. It’s July 21st. Things we haven’t done: (A) gotten really into projects (B) pulled out all of the board games (C) learned life skills (D) road tripped To be fair, we’ve done a lot of little things and it’s not like I gave up on the big stuff immediately. I meticulously mapped out all eleven wee ..read more

Montessori at Home with Monti Kids

This post is sponsored by Monti Kids and we received a Level 8 box to facilitate our review. All thoughts and opinions below are my own. I strongly believe that the best preschool program you can choose for your child is a Montessori-based program but it’s not always affordable or practical for families to find one. We spent thousands to send our oldest to a local Montessori program for one year but we couldn’t afford to send her longer than that and when we had our second and third kids it was completely out of the question. To supplement, I tried to buy Montessori-style toys to use here at ..read more

This is an older review but I had a friend who was looking for the info and I still swear by these. Out of all the baby products we ever used, these Swadde Up sleep sacks stand out as being something that was totally worth using. Disclaimer: I received a Swaddle Up samples from Love to Dream years ago when my youngest was brand new. This specific post isn’t sponsored but the original post was. The thoughts and opinions below are my own. You are looking at a magical sleeping combo. Felix is a great day sleeper these days thanks to (A) the thing he’s wearing and (B) the thing he’s sleeping on ..read more

The Full Craniosynostosis Post (with a Two Year Update)

I missed marking the occasion but last month we celebrated the two year anniversary of Felix’s successful surgery for his sagittal synostosis. When we first learned that he had a craniosynostosis condition, I searched high and low for blog posts from other parents who had been in our position so it doesn’t surprise me that the three articles I did about it at the time are now some of my most popular archived posts. I could just link to them but I thought it would be more helpful to condense the good parts into one long post with a two year update, since that’s what I would have loved when we w ..read more

The Kids Summer Reading List 2019

This post contains Amazon affiliate links.  We’re getting sooooo close to summer and we are READY FOR IT. I’m always over school by this point because I just want my kids home with me doing fun stuff so the month of May takes forever. We’re in the final stretch now and then it will be all ice cream and swimming pools and books books books. Calvin is at a second grade reading level and Eva is somewhere around junior high but they’re only five and eight respectively so it’s challenging sometimes finding books at their level that aren’t beyond their range of interests. Felix doesn’t have a summe ..read more
