1. Take a relaxing bath
Add Epsom salts, essential oils, or a bath bomb for extra relaxation. Light candles, play soothing music, and create a tranquil atmosphere.

Our Review of the Week is from Rex Johnson! Check it out;
“I have intensely finicky, sensitive skin and have thus far found just one lotion that hasn’t set it off after sometimes just a single application (Vanicream Lite Lotion; even the thicker, less expensive pot of moisturizer from the same line is a no go… It has the same ingredients list but two ingredients are transposed and apparently that’s enough to break me out.)
I don’t even want to think about how much I’ve spent over the years looking for even a single other option just for some variety in my life (and maybe more or longer-la ..read more

Because I have sensitive, eczema-prone skin, I’m very selective about what I put on it. If I can be frank, I like my skincare products the way I like my relationships: natural, consistent, and worth my time! Lol.
My favorite skincare products have been heavily researched and, thankfully, stood the test of time.
Here are my 3 favorites;
1. CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser
Before using CeraVe’s daily face wash, I was afraid to try new things on my face due to how sensitive it is. But one of my friends who also has sensitive skin told me about the CeraVe cleanser. I’ve been using it for a l ..read more

We talk a lot about the different scents we have. We even did a whole series on it!
But did you know that there is also variety in the texture of our products?
That’s right, some of our butters are thicker than others!
Now, let’s be clear – our butters are NEVER greasy. They’re all whipped for hours to achieve a light fluffy texture.
But as a rule of thumb, our thickest butters have raw shea as the only butter in the base.
Our raw shea whips are Unscented Whipped Shea Butter, Lemongrass, Lavender and Peppermint.

Let’s get to know her!
“Hi I’m Alyssa, a writer for BGLHM who currently lives in ATL. I’m originally from Miami and prefer visiting compared to living there! But I’ll forever rep the 305 My favorite things to do are read, be in nature, chill with my cat sons, and of course, eat!

My skincare routine doesn’t have 15 steps but I still consider it pretty extensive. Whether it’s in the morning or right before bed, I make sure to give my skin the daily TLC it requires. Now I have to be honest, sometimes I don’t feel like it! But then I think about how far my skin has come and how hard I worked to get it where it is now. That’s when I express gratitude, get up and take care of my skin!
In the winter months, applying the whipped shea to my face is perfect for my dry skin. But when this ATL heat hits even BGLH’s notoriously light whipped body butters are too heavy. So t ..read more

Whipped shea butter is my all-time favorite moisturizer for my body. When I think about a moisturizer that is going to truly give my body what it needs, whipped shea butter is the first that comes to mind. There are countless benefits to using whipped shea butter. Here are my top 3:
1. Results I can see
I’ve had hyperpigmentation and eczema since I was a young child. Having super sensitive skin came with insecurities that made me want to hide my skin. For the longest time, I didn’t feel comfortable wearing anything that showed my legs or the creases of my arms because this is where most of my ..read more

A recent article in the Guardian reported that water-free beauty products are gaining popularity and now account for 23% of the US personal care market.
We’ve been making water-free products since 2014 and can totally understand why they’re gaining in popularity.
1. Most hair and skin care products are 60% to 80% water. While water can be a beneficial beauty ingredient, the reality is that it’s being over-used to cut costs.
2. Excessive water can reduce a product’s effectiveness. Certain applications — like healing damaged skin or deeply moi ..read more

10 ingredients or less — that’s the recommendation made by dermatologist Dr. Bruce Brod, clinical professor at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
In 2019, Dr. Brod sounded the alarm on the increasing use of false advertising in the clean beauty industry, and how that advertising put consumers at risk.
Back then, he warned that the FDA was failing consumers and endangering their health by not enacting responsible standards.
Fast-forward to today, and… the FDA *still* has not acted, leaving consumers even more vulnerable. As Dr. Brod notes, the “sheer volume” of new bran ..read more
