Pastor, Plan Now for Your Post-Easter Review
Ron Edmondson

Pastor, I like to remind (or encourage) you to plan to do a post-Easter review shortly after Easter weekend. Easter is one of a few times a year churches have a unique opportunity to reach people who do not normally attend their church. Most churches spend weeks and – hopefully – months planning for the weekend. In addition to the normal celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, I love the energy that Easter brings to a church. This energy, if channeled correctly, can fuel a church beyond one weekend per year. The problem I see with many churches, however, is they stop the work put into Easter ..read more

And there is nothing we do to influence this change. There are lots of other examples of this. Some change is so routine it requires little thought or preparation by the leader. For example, leaders will move and new lea ..read more

7 Reactions Seen in Insecure Leaders
Ron Edmondson
by Ron Edmondson

Insecure leaders negatively impact the organizations they attempt to lead. Christian leaders are called to walk by faith. We won’t always know what the future holds, but we steadfastly follow God’s leadership. Honestly, as I work with Christian leaders, I sometimes see more confident leadership outside the church than within. Yet, people of faith have assurance in Whom we are following. We can lead people with confidence, strength and conviction. Insecurity always shows up in a person’s life. It can possibly be disguised, but it can’t be hidden. Insecure people – or people who aren’t secure in ..read more

Ron Edmondson
by Ron Edmondson
1w ago
Have you ever tried to lead someone who didn’t necessarily want to be led? The same children labeled as “strong-willed” by their parents often grow up to be strong-willed adults. Perhaps you know one. In fact, perhaps you are one. (I know a few personally. The one I know best is me!) But trying to lead a strong-willed adult isn’t easy. In fact, I’m convinced many strong-willed people end up leading simply because they couldn’t be led. Yet, they often didn’t need to lead – until they matured. No one ever learned to lead them, so they struck out on their own. (Be sure to read my closing note if ..read more

5 Times When Leading Change is More Difficult
Ron Edmondson
by Ron Edmondson
1w ago
Change is difficult – almost always. Sometimes change is harder than other times. It’s then when leadership is tested most, tensions mount and people are more likely to object. In my experience, if a leader knows these times it helps prepare to approach the change. Change is necessary. While change may produce conflict, without change there will also be conflict. When people sit still – when growth stalls – people complain. A very seasoned leader friend of mine says, “Two things I guarantee. People are going to complain about change. And, people are going to complain if things remain the same ..read more

Ron Edmondson
by Ron Edmondson

My job involves a lot of relationships. I have learned the key to healthy relationships is communication. And there are some things not to do if you’re attempting “healthy” communication. I know marriages which could improve if we improved the communication in the marriage. I’ve seen people avoid other people, because they know how the communication will go when they encounter them. I’ve known people who are short on quality relationships and, honestly, many t ..read more
