A space has unexpectedly become available on my forthcoming tool chest course on 29th to 31st October (3 days). I ran this tool chest course back in 2015 and produced a YouTube video showing the piston fit tray and soft close lid. I have condensed this course into 3 days so it will be quite intense with plenty of dovetailing. Cost £470 inc vat and all prepared parts. Please email me if you are interested bar071960@gmail.com

The four day jewellery box course is finished and everyone did very well.
The boxes were fully lined with a piston fit tray, sitting on a brown oak stand.
Everyone chose a different coloured pig suede for their lining, all lovely in their own way.
A tiring but rewarding course with four very skilled woodworkers.

I've planned 7 courses for later in the year with some nice projects and plenty of skills and techniques. Full details of all the courses can be found on my website www.davidbarronfurniture.co.uk
The dovetail box is a 2 day course preceded by a 1 day sharpening course (optional). You will learn how to cut perfect dovetails straight from the saw as well as plenty of use on the shooting board.
The mitred corner jewellery box is a challenging project that will teach you how to create gap free mitres, a piston fit tray and soft close lid. You will also line the box in pig suede and make a stan ..read more

I've been working on this Alan Peters inspired chest, on and off, for nearly a year now. It's made from elm which came from from Alans workshop after his sad passing. The drawer fronts are burr elm which I band sawed to a thickness of 2 mm, this enabled me to match the grain making good use of the precious board. It turned the through dovetails in to half blind and is a technique I have often used.
With the chest complete I'll be able to concentrate on preparing for a range of courses in the Autumn. I will release the detail and dates in the next week or so.

Browsing E Bay I came across this advert for a Sjobergs bench which looks in excellent condition. It has a proper face vice which is ideal for dovetailing as well as the best type of end vice. At 5' long it is a good usable size without taking up too much room. It's located in Brighton https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Work-Bench-with-storage-Heavy-Duty-Solid-Wooden-Table-Woodworking-Vice/283988197536?hash=item421f0400a0:g:ZCkAAOSwu7VfQrMH  ..read more
