Last week, John Travolta announced that his son Ben got a new cat! The iconic actor shared the news on Instagram by posting a photo of himself and his 10-year-old son with the floofy feline, christened “Crystal.” Ben OBVIOUSLY is a loveable-cat-guy-in-training, and the photo effervesces with familial kitty love. Ben’s mom died last summer, so I’m sure that Crystal will purrvide him with enough purr therapy to get him through any rocky times ahead. Welcome, Crystal! Some of Animal Crew’s work is Wes Anderson-esque: pale, desaturated color, straight-on head shots, deadpan expressions, attention to detail. But aside from my Wes Anderson obsession, I LOVE cowboys. I was a cowgirl growing up. Rode my horse daily, performed in an equestrian drill team, owned spurs, chaps, and cowboy hats (including a PINK one). Bur Animal Crew doesn’t just portray cowboy cats. There are scuba cats, piratecats, Dapper Detective Cats: and Steampunk cats: She also portrays vishus deer, but don’t wet your pants, kittehs–they aren’t real and present no threat! You can buy unfram ..read more

We get it, kittehs. You love ‘gramming your Sunday selfies. But it could come at a cost. There have been no formal investigations into the number of cats who prematurely win rides to The Rainbow Bridge, but if it’s anything like the number of idiot hyoomans who experience selfie-cide, it’s high time you reëvaluate your selfie-taking routine. Maybe you fancy yourself a daredevil and want to show off your heuvos by taking a selfie with vishus deer or hungry Rottweilers behind you. Sure, they’re not eating you right now, but once your back is turned….. well, let’s not go there. So, play it safe ..read more

“Putin would not have been able to stay in power that long if he had said something bad about cats. A group of middle-aged and elderly women (i.e. ladies just like me) looked up in adoration at the tall 39-year-old Ramil who arrived in their Moscow suburb with several crowbars and a circular saw. Ramil, who asked his last name not be published for security reasons, is not a builder, but a volunteer making rounds to rescue cats trapped in the basements of Soviet-era blocks of flats which often serve as the only shelter for stray cats in winter’s cold. Russia is the world leader in cat ownersh ..read more

Photo provided by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control via AP Brandy, a brown tabby who went astray about 15 years ago has been reunited, older and maybe wiser, with her owner. She was reunited Monday afternoon with Charles, who adopted her as a 2-month-old kitten in 2005. “It’s amazing. I think it’s unbelievable,” he said Thursday. “I saw her, I picked her up and she started to purr and it was very emotional,” Charles said. “It was nice to have her in my arms again.″ ”I did break down and cry because I thought about all of the years I lost from her,” said Charles, a co ..read more

Canopy Cat Rescue is cats’ best friend. Cat Guys Tom Otto and Shawn Sears realized how difficult (and sometimes impossible) it is for people to rescue treed cats. And they knew how heart-wrenching it can be to discover your missing kitty is 40 ft up a tree, cold, hungry, tired, and scared, unable to find her way down. So they founded CCR, promising to rescue moggies in distress and reunite them with their families. They’ve been at it in Washington state since 2009, and have saved about 4000 cats during that time. They’ve rescued cats in trees as high as 105 ft. They rescue cats anytime, day or ..read more

A 7-month-old kitten named Juicebox could have lost all nine of his lives when his family’s dog attacked him. Instead, he was saved by some innovative veterinarians and a handful of plastic buttons. Juicebox was brought to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston after a playtime with his canine sibling got out of hand. The kitten had a broken jaw as well as serious facial lacerations, which the veterinarians at Angell repaired in a remarkably original way, using four colorful buttons. “The buttons are attached to wires on both sides of his cheeks. And the buttons hold the sutures in place. But ..read more

Cat Fancier Magazine, the leading newsweekly for cat owners, released its annual list of top 2020 news stories, with “Kitten Stuck in Tree” taking the top seven honors. “While 2020 was a year of great upheaval in the realms of politics, the environment and social justice, we felt that stories of kittens stuck in trees outweighed climate change and terrorism in terms of human interest and newsworthiness,” said Editor-in-Chief Carmella Hewlett. “Mr. Wifflesworth agrees, dudn’t he?” she adds as she scratches her ten-year-old, fourteen-pound orange tabby under the chin. In eighth place was “Kitte ..read more
