On Wednesday night, the NFL released the 2021 Detroit Lions schedule, and we could not be more excited for the upcoming season! After looking through the schedule and giving it some careful consideration, these are the 3 matchups that I’m most looking forward to: 9/20 at Green Bay – Who doesn’t love a divisional rivalry, am I right? Here’s hoping that this early season matchup brings out the best in the Lions, especially if Rodgers is no longer with the Packs. And if he is, our defensive line will be sure to put the pressure on him. 10/24 at Los Angeles – This is definitely the marquee game f ..read more

The Lions will have a tough decision to make this offseason about wide out Kenny Golladay, and NFL insider Jason La Canfora says he’s expecting the Lions to place the franchise tag on the 27-year-old. Golladay in four seasons with the Lions has 21 touchdowns with 183 pass receptions for 3068 yards. The receiver is a top 10 free agent should he hit the market, but the Lions after already moving quarterback Matthew Stafford want to keep Golladay around. It was a tough season health wise for Golladay, as he played in just five games due to injury, making 20 catches for 338 yards and two scores ..read more

The Lions are set to hire their next head coach, as Saints assistant/tight ends coach Dan Campbell is set to be the team’s new voice. Detroit had to wait for the Saints to be eliminated from the playoffs in order to hire Campbell, and that happened Sunday thanks to Tom Brady and the Bucs in a 30-20 win by Tampa over New Orleans. The hiring of Campbell ends the two biggest hirings this offsason for the Lions, as the team already hired new GM Brad Holmes on a five-year contract last week. Campbell’s resume includes 21 years of NFL experience, 11 on the field with four teams, and another 10 now ..read more

The Lions have been busy speaking to possible new head coaches since the season ended, and today they will have another interview, that being with Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell. Campbell has been on the Lions list, but wasn’t able to speak to any team until the Saints completed their wild card round Sunday against the Chicago Bears. The Saints assistant head coach was an interim head coach for 12 games back in 2015 for the Miami Dolphins after Joe Philbin was fired. He went 5-7 in those 12 games. The following season he went to the Saints and has been a member of S ..read more

The Lions will have a very tough decision to make this offseason when it comes to the quarterback position and the future for vet Matthew Stafford. Stafford will cost over $21 million on the cap in 2021, and he’s got three years left on his current deal with the Lions. Some feel it’s time for the Lions to move on to another QB, and where they get that QB is anyone’s guess, but it would likely be in the draft of via free agency. Where does that leave Stafford? ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler penned in a recent piece that he thinks the one place that would be a great fit for Stafford is that of Indianapol ..read more

The Lions have seen enough, announcing on Saturday that they have fired head coach Matt Patrica as well as general manager Bob Quinn. The Detroit Lions announced today that Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia have been relieved of their duties. pic.twitter.com/Tz5Rc7y53Y — Detroit Lions (@Lions) November 28, 2020 The club had little success under Patricia, as they struggled with two straight seasons under .500. Lions rookie running back D’Andre Swift didn’t practice Thursday due to a concussion, leaving his status for Sunday’s game against the Panthers in doubt considering the NFL’s concussion protocol rules, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports. It’s not clear when Swift suffered the concussion. He was not listed on the team’s injury report Wednesday and spoke with the media for almost five minutes after practice ended Wednesday.
