Birthday cake is one of my favorite foods of all time. A homemade cake will do the trick, sure, but nothing quite beats a ready-made grocery store vanilla cake that's been sitting in the fridge for a day. It's a low-brow food and I love it. Give me blue icing balloons and a yellow spongey middle. Give me cursive lettering that I will peel off and eat with my fork. Give me a candle to lick icing off of. It's sugary, it's creamy, and it reminds me of simpler times.  It's a shame that our birthdays are only once a year. I guess nothing is really stopping me from buying a birthday cake at a ..read more

It's a tale as old as the internet: everybody wants to see the easily digestible online entertainment on a regular basis, but far fewer individuals are willing to go through with the task of creating and/or collecting it all. Thankfully, those who are up to the task put in all the effort to keep us ticking over on the meme front, and it's no mean feat. No wonder they want to go the meta route, and make memes about the ups and downs of meme curation. Yes, if there is one thing that memers are unquestionably good at it is making any kind of situation into a relatable and humorous image. It make ..read more

Dating apps and online dating seem to be one of those inevitable realities that nobody really enjoys but that everyone seems to get wound up in at one point or another. It's hard to tell what someone's intentions are on the other side of a screen. Some people are just in it for yucks, some are just on it for superficial things, and apparently, some people are just on it for free meals. Hey, I'm all for getting what you can out of a situation, but people are people, not ATMs.  One thing I've never fully understood about this tactic is this: what good is a fancy meal if you have to share i ..read more

Much of what we get out of our lives is down to the perspective we take on it. It doesn't have to be anything major; it could be as simple as talking to a loved one or scrolling through a selection of wholesome memes. We all deserve to have our fair shar ..read more

The horrors of the internet may be many, but it has its good points. One of the most practical of these is that for many jobs, companies no longer need every employee to be in the same place for things to get done. While the finer points of working from home are up for debate, it's great that we have the freedom of choice. In theory, we are in the age of the anti-commute. However, for every few people who are committed to the WFH lifestyle, there seems to be a bozo who is doing their best to make up for all the time and pollution that they are saving. This was the conclusive response to one v ..read more

Historically speaking, millennials have been a much-maligned generation that has faced critique from both sides. Boomers and Gen X have written them off as a bunch of self-indulgent spendthrifts, and Gen Z has made a point about dismissing them as cringe.  While the adults also known as Gen Y are far from the perfect cohort, it seems unfair to solely focus on their real or imagined bad points. They have also made a move towards some really positive societal changes, as has been underlined in a recent Reddit thread.  Asking people to name the things that Millennials were "giving birt ..read more

In our modern age, there are very few food items that you can't get at the drop of a hat. If you want a bucket of crispy KFC fried chicken delivered directly to your door, you can get it if you're willing to pay the price. We live in a culture of instant gratification; for the most part, there aren't many problems with doing things super last minute.  There are a couple of food items you can't order the day of and expect to get immediately; custom cakes are one of them. Baking, icing, and decorating cakes are time-consuming, and bakers are constantly making orders that were placed months ..read more

Not all heroes wear capes, some work as front desk clerks in random hotels.  I got married when I was pretty young, and even though I didn't actually have a case of cold feet the night before my wedding, I did have my doubts. Call me dramatic, but getting married is a huge decision, and whether or not you stay married for your whole life, this decision affects every part of your life forever. This wholesome story proves that good people can be in every corner, and they can help you out with overwhelming decisions, like getting married.
