The lease is signed … I’ve been talking a lot about Virginia lately and we’ve made plans to lease an apartment so I can be there more. We’ll split our time between Big Canoe and Harrisonburg. It’s crazy but it was such a complicated process … I swear buying a house would have required less paperwork! It’s a 2/2 bedroom/bathroom unit and it will have space for Keith to work and for me to sew. The plan is for me to fly home on Saturday and then Keith, Finn, and I will drive up with both the car and the truck packed up the following Saturday … so I’ll have a week at home to get ready. I’ve alre ..read more

Here’s another Jelly Roll pattern that I’ve made several times but it’s been a few years. Luckily, I still have lots of Jelly Rolls so I’ll choose a couple of them to pack for VA and make Boxed Squares quilts. You can find brief instructions at my website at this link ..read more

This Jelly Roll quilt is definitely on the list of projects to take with me to Virginia and I’ll pack a couple of them. It’s based on a vintage quilt I saw on eBay and I have brief instructions on my website at this link. As you can see below, I’ve made several versions ..read more

Keith picked Finn up from boarding first thing this morning and sent me a photo. He said Finn was happy to see him and looks like he did just fine. The woman who works in the office at the place we board him spoils him too … keeping him in with her most of the day. I know he’s looking for me at home but it will be a week before I get back. We’ve never spent 2 weeks apart before – he’s going to need lots of cuddle time when I get home ..read more

We ended our trip on our actual 35th wedding anniversary. I’m so thankful that Keith chose us so many years ago and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together! I’m heading right back to Virginia to be with Mom so there won’t be any quilting this next week either but I will be looking at projects that I want to pack up and take back to Virginia with me in May so you will see some of those ..read more

We spent the day at Acadia National Park today … just too gorgeous to even try to describe! We’d visited the park on our first trip to Bar Harbor … which was probably close to 14 years ago and it was great to go back with the boys. My husband drew me a heart in the sand! If I’m lucky I’ll have many, many more years with him ..read more

One of the reasons we love Maine so much is that Keith’s father and his family are from here. During my genealogy research, I found out that his great grandmother and her family were from the Bar Harbor area and that makes it special to us too. Today we drove up from Portland along the coast and arrived late afternoon. The Inn we’re staying at is right on the water and near the Inn we stayed at 14 or so years ago … The Maine coast is just so beautiful. And who better to share it with than my 3 guys ..read more
