Preview: Tails of Iron 2 Adds Monster Hunting, Undead Bats in Scaled Up Sequel
Push Square

Fight fur survival. The original Tails of Iron was quietly a big success for developer Odd Bug Studio. The action RPG about a kingdom of rats has drawn in a lot of fans thanks to its sketch-like art style, deliberate combat, and explorable world. We suppose the fact it's narrated by Doug Cockle — voice of Geralt in The Witcher series — may have something to do with it too, but whatever the case, the team isn't resting on its laurels for Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter. After watching the sequel in action in a hands-off preview, it's clear there's plenty here to stop it from growing stail ..read more

Earthly desires. Imagine Earth, a city building strategy title that launched a few years back on PC and Xbox, is making the jump to PS5 and PS4 on the 9th May. The game takes place in 2084, and tasks you with creating sustainable civilisation on various alien planets, following on from the greed-driven ruin of humanity's original home. We think developer Serious Bros. is trying to tell us something... "Corporate greed isn’t the only threat players face in Imagine Earth, though, as failure to balance expansion and ecology could result in climate disaster," reads the press release. Available 23rd April. Synth Riders' impeccable slate of DLC just doesn't seem to have an end in sight, does it? Well, here we are once again, as the team at Kluge Interactive has cooked up something really special for this latest DLC: 80s Mixtape - Side A. Hot off the heels of the marvellous Electro Swing Essentials 2 pack, Synth Riders is tapping into a decade that has greatly inspired the title. The core soundtrack for the game features an immense amount of synthwave, but nothing from the decade that inspired it proper. And Kluge did not pull any punches when it came time to pick the tracks ..read more

Rumour: 2K Gearing Up for Mafia Announcement
Push Square
by

But don't go snitching. A rumour is currently doing the rounds, suggesting that we could learn more about 2K's plans for the Mafia series' future (or perhaps past) in the days ahead. A new game was confirmed to be in development back in 2022, potentially a prequel, and we've heard virtually nothing since. But the source says the reveal could just as easily involve a next-gen update for Mafia: Definitive Edition, so we'll have to wait and see. "Video game researcher" Kurakasis made the claim on Twitter (thanks, VGC), whose prodding this year alone revealed the title of Amy Hennig's new game, Ma ..read more

Save the day from 29th May. Capes is a turn-based superhero tactics game set in a world where the villains have already won. We've had our eye on this one for a little while now, as it looks like it could be quite special. Here's hoping it won't be received as tragically as Firaxis' excellent Marvel's Midnight Suns when it hits on 29th May on PS5 and PS4. In this latest look at the game, we learn a little more about the mission at hand. Set in King City, Capes will task players with building a team of superheroes capable of fighting back across a series of campaign and patrol missions. All kin ..read more

Fair trade. Braid: Anniversary Edition has been hit with a brief delay, but the blow was softened by the news that the anticipated package will come packing some 40 additional levels. Developer Johnathon Blow revealed that the anticipated enhanced re-release will now arrive two weeks later than anticipated, on 15th May for PS5 and PS4. Officially styled as "Braid, Anniversary Edition" (SEO's nightmarish enough, thanks, Blow), the news was issued in a press release, which details the additional levels included. Automatons back AT-AT again. Helldivers 2 players have recently managed to blunt the advance of the oncoming Automaton invasion fleet, with the conflict again devolving into a grinding stalemate. However, it seems the machines never rest on their laurels, as reports of the lumbering Factory Striders being deployed in unprecedented numbers begin to trickle in. Unconfirmed, fanciful tales of similar machines were recorded during Operation Swift Disassembly, the first phase of a much larger campaign. Factory Striders, as they've come to be known, are super heavy weapons platforms capable of manuf ..read more
